De behandeling van het AMI staat op hoog niveau. Het identificeren van de oorzaken van cardiale pijn op de borst geschiedt steeds vaker en beter volgens de recente Performance Measures van ACC en AHA, gepubliceerd in Circulation (november 2008). Door zorgvuldig toepassen van pre-medicatie ( clopidogrel, acetosal en heparine ) heeft zo’n 20 % van de patiënten bij aankomst op de cath.-kamer in het Catharina Ziekenhuis open bloedvat. Andere observaties melden eenzelfde resultaat.
